Coming off the heels of opening slots with The Black Keys and The Killers in 2012 and a hit new album, Tegan and Sara brought their newly discovered brand of pop to a sold out Minneapolis crowd. Lamenting on past loves, crowd attractiveness, broken hearts and guitars, the twin sisters sprinkled selections from their acoustic indie past with their polished and danceable hit new album, Heartthrob.

Kicking off the set with a pair of fan favorites, “Back In Your Head” and “Walking With a Ghost,” Tegan and Sara wrapped their arms around the excited Minneapolis crowd before leading them in the dance with a trio of songs off Heartthrob. After six albums of growing their grassroots fanbase, the Canadian duo have decided to shoot for the masses, introducing a decidedly upbeat and fun seventh album that begs the listener to shake their hips through the heartbreak and longing.  Not missing a beat, the 4-piece backing band ensured the new album translated perfectly live.

Between songs the sisters kept the crowd laughing, yet empathetic.  Tegan shared her disappointing past relationship Minneapolis as she once arrived in the city to find the airline left her with a guitar in two-pieces and her then partner had broken up with her and was quick to also change their phone number. On the other side, Sara had the crowd laughing as she checked out the audience. Though beauty is in the eye of the beholder, Sara seemed to enjoy what she was seeing in this Minneapolis crowd.

The sisters played through all of the keyboard heavy 80’s Heartthrob before closing out the show with an extended medley of tracks from the past and their Tiesto collaboration “Feel It In My Bones.”  Catch Tegan & Sara on the road this summer in supporting FUN.
