Hinterland festival in Iowa features TV on the Radio, Brandi Carlile, Edward Sharpe, Lucius & more. July 31 – Aug 1.
Hinterland, a new, eclectic Des Moines festival coming at the end of July is featuring another slew of indie talent, right off the heels of the outstanding 80/35 festival that we recently covered. While Des Moines won’t be mistaken as the pre-eminent heartbeat of midwest indie pop, it sure is giving it a hell of a try to make it’s indelible mark on the map. The festival lineups have been nothing short of outstanding. Any festival that doesn’t have Kanye West as the headliner is our friend.
This year’s lineup features TV on the Radio, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, Brandi Carlile, Lucius and quite a bit more found here.
Here’s the official blurb from the official Hinterland website, where you can buy tickets (ranging from only $45 up through VIP level) and organize all your festival going needs.
“The Hinterland Music Festival is inspired by the place where we live: Des Moines. Iowa. The Midwest.
It’s a weekend of great music under the stars and skyline. It’s two days of music hand-picked by First Fleet’s Sam Summers for the gorgeous backdrop of Water Works Park, a 1,500 acre oasis in the center of our city. In our first year, Hinterland will feature a diverse blend of relevant artists, cyclist events, on-site sculpture and art installations, craft vendors, family engagement and more.
We’re excited to bring a festival to the area that captures that Midwestern knack for finding the beauty in all things urban and rural. We promise you, our first year is going to be a truly unique experience for music lovers. Come down to Hinterland in July, won’t you?”
